In the automatic control system of instrumentation, there is an important factor that is easy to be ignored in addition to the instrumentation itself. It is the problem of signal transmission and matching between centralized control systems (such as DCS, PLC, SIS and other control systems) and instrumentation.
The signals of on-site instruments such as pressure transmitters, liquid level transmitters, temperature transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, temperature and humidity transmitters, and soil moisture transmitters are collected and output by centralized control equipment to control valves, frequency converters, etc. The output and input of the signal must match each other. The signal is the link between the control equipment, and it can also be said to be the language of the dialogue between the control equipment, if the language is different, they cannot communicate with each other, that is to say, the entire control system or the control loop cannot operate normally.
Effect of Signal Mismatch:
First of all, if the signals do not match, the centralized control equipment will not receive the signal, or the received signal will cause the centralized control equipment to produce incorrect information, so that the control system or the control loop can not operate normally.
Secondly, and in the worst-case scenario, there is a risk of damage to the components (components) of the centralized control equipment, such as the switching input card of the control system receives the dry contact signal, and the 220VAC active contact signal is sent to it, which will cause a certain channel or even the entire card to be damaged.
Therefore, when designing and selecting field instruments and several control equipment, it is very important to match the signal type input to the centralized control equipment and the signal type output from the centralized control equipment to the next-level control equipment.
