What is a shielded wire? A wire with a conductor wrapped around it is called a shielding wire, and the wrapped conductor is called a shielding layer. The purpose of using shielded wires in sensors is to prevent interference signals from entering the inner layer, reduce conductor interference, and reduce the loss of transmitted signals, ensuring the accuracy of signal transmission.
In the application of liquid level sensors, gas shielded wires are more commonly used. Shielded wires with gas can accurately transmit the data of groundwater (or other compatible media) measured by the sensor. They have good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, waterproofing, and shielding performance, as well as soft and tensile resistance, strong pressure resistance, and high reliability.
During the use of sensor shielding wires, it is important to note that the shielding layer of the shielding wire does not allow for multiple grounding points. Because the grounding points of the shielding wires used on site for sensors are always different, there is a potential difference between each point. If the shielding wire used by the sensor is grounded at multiple points, a current is formed in the shielding layer, and a current is induced on the wire, causing interference on the signal line. This not only fails to shield the sensor, but also introduces interference, especially in situations where there is a frequency converter around the sensor. The interference contains various high-order harmonic components, which can have a greater impact on the sensor, and special attention should be paid.
