Instrumentation system grounding is divided into protective grounding and working grounding.
1. Protective grounding
Methods of Protective Grounding:
The field instrument tray and conduit should be connected to the grounded metal components with grounding wires every 30m. In particular, it should be pointed out that the on-site grounding of instruments and meters must not use metal equipment, pipelines and metal components connected to the storage and transportation of flammable media for grounding. The instrument automation equipment, cabinets, and dashboards in the control room should be separately equipped with protective grounding busbars. Its grounding body can be shared with the grounding body of the power system.
Second, the work is grounded
The working grounding of instrumentation includes signal loop grounding, shield grounding, and intrinsically safe grounding.
1. The signal loop is grounded
In non-isolated signaling systems, a unified signal reference point should be established. That is, the signal loop is grounded. Usually the negative pole of the DC power supply is grounded. It is extremely rare for the system to be disturbed while the instrumentation is operating.
2. Shielding and grounding
The shielding layer and exhaust line of the cable should be shielded and grounded. In the area of strong lightning strike, the spare core should be shielded and grounded for ordinary multi-core cables without shielding in outdoor overhead. The main purpose is to avoid lightning inducing high voltages in the signal line. In the field junction box, the cable shields on both sides of the terminal should be crossed in the box. For the same signal loop, the same shield should be grounded at a single point. Generally, the shield grounding should be grounded on the side of the control room.
3. Intrinsically safe grounding
The busbar of the Zener barrier must be connected to the common end of the DC power supply (mainly to ensure that the hazardous location can be protected in the event of a power failure). Its busbar or guide rail is intrinsically safe grounding. An intrinsically safe grounding busbar should be set up in the control.
Methods of working grounding:
The signal and shield grounding busbar and intrinsically safe grounding busbar are connected to the working grounding busbar through their respective grounding wires.
