RS-485 is an electrical standard that describes the physical layer of an interface, such as protocols, timing, serial or parallel data, and links, all defined by the designer or higher-level protocols. RS-485 defines the electrical characteristics of drivers and receivers using balanced (also known as differential) multipoint transmission lines. RS-485 enables the configuration of inexpensive local networks as well as multi-leg communication links. The RS485 communication mode bus interface of the instrument can be designed as a semi-dual working mode or a full dual working mode. Transmitters generally operate in a semi-dual mode, which means that data can only be transmitted in one direction at a time. The dual-dual mode of operation allows two-way simultaneous communication between the master and slave nodes. In the RS485 communication network, the transmitter generally adopts the master-slave communication mode, that is, a master with multiple slaves. In many cases, when connecting the transmitter RS-485 communication link, it is simply connected with a pair of twisted pair wires to connect the “A” and “B” ends of each interface, and ignore the connection of the transmitter signal to the ground, this connection method can work normally in many occasions, but it has buried a great hidden danger, and a good grounding can ensure that the transmitter can be combined with the lightning protection design of the equipment to better release energy when the static electricity is accumulated, and protect the transmitter and RS485 bus equipment from injury.
