Waveforms on a mismatched transmission line are reflected. The waveform at any point on the transmission line is a superposition of the original waveform and the reflected waveform. The TDR principle of soil moisture transmitter has a response time of about 10-20 seconds, which is suitable for mobile measurement and fixed-point monitoring. But the equipment is more expensive.
